LFW: Alexander McQueen AW16

Sarah Burton just delivered one the dreamiest collections you'll see.
It was clear to see that embellishment was key to Sarah's collection this season; we saw colourful, hand sewn sequin birds, thousands of gems to replicate a night sky, and enough butterflies to last you a life time, it was one of the shows that will forever stick with us.

Then there's the outerwear, if you've always wanted to wear your duvet as a coat now is your time, and it's more fashionable than ever! The thick, quilted, coats lined with fur and embellished with butterflies remind you of laying in a field on a cool summers day and makes you feel some what nostalgic.

McQueen's return to London is definitely one to remember, and I know we can't wait to see whats in store for SS17.

LFW - Eudon Choi AW16

Eudon Choi's inspiration for this collection was a mix from two abstract artists, Salou Raouda Choucair, and Helen Frankenthaler and adapted their two very different styles into one to produce a beautiful contrast of a collection.

This season was all about neatly pressed pleats, oversized knitwear, asymmetric lines, and block, harsh tones against soft, pastel colours for Eudon. The silhouette-shaping garments beautifully pulled the ready-to-wear collection together.
Eudon collaborated with footwear designer Ganor Dominic, together creating shoes that perfectly matched each item of clothing, making everything look extremely chic.

Overall Eudon's collection showed his growth as a designer, and his willingness to experiment with new materials, colours, and designs. we look forward to seeing what he has to show in SS17.

LFW - ASHISH AW16

Ashish AW16 was a collection you wouldn't want to miss. The 70's disco wigs, sequins, and bold colours were a party for our eyes.

Gupta's main inspiration for this season was quite simply a rainbow and a box of crayons he owned as a child. From the head-to-toe block colour garments, you can definitely see his inspiration coming through throughout the collection. For Gupta this season it was more than just the clothes, it was also about celebration of diversity and colour, we really saw this celebration in the models as they were dancing, strutting, and just having fun from beginning to end of the show, truly representing British culture especially throughout London.

Its safe to say that Gupta has once again outdone himself this season and really gave us all a show we won't be forgetting anytime soon.

LFW - BELSTAFF AW16

Belstaff's 'Polar Pioneer' AW16 Collection, inspired by Edith "Jackie" Ronnie's Antarctic expedition of 1947, was nothing short of a cool experience. Located at One Marylebone under high grey arches, the crypt was transformed into an arctic wonderland.

The collection incorporates both polar and moto inspirations, leather pants combined with fur-lined parkas emphasise the brands attitude of freedom of spirit. The predominant garment of the collection was most definitely the outerwear, with the polar temperates in mind, wearability and comfort were in mind. Fur-lined leather jackets, shearling coats, and knitted jumpers made you look forward to going out in the cold.

LFW - DAKS AW16

Daks AW16 collection was beautifully elegant. With garments being predominantly black, the variation in materials made the collection really stand out, including flowing black silk, velvet, and lace embellishments. Victorian style ruffled necklines complimented the predominantly black collection wonderfully. We also saw Daks signature checked style incorporated into the show as a celebration of the last 40 years of the print.

For the garments that weren't all black, we saw a shades of sunset orange that made you reminisce winter nights at dusk, and also hints of bronze and gold in brooches tactically worn to complete the outfit and break the black streak.

Creative Director, Filippo Scuffi, has shown how with the right constructed fabrics and added statement accessories, you can evoke the feeling of elegance and true British evening style.

LFW: Niro Wang AW16

Inspired by the traditional Swedish children's toy, a wooden horse, Niro Wang's AW16 collection 'seeks the meeting point between nature and urban life', this is shown through the funky prints and shapes throughout the collection.

The Scandi influences are clear through the simple use of designs and patterns on the garments, as well as the earth toned colour palette bought to life by these bold patterns. Each garment, although using similar prints such as the wooden horse and leaf, are still unique and different through the use of colours and textures.

The show as a whole was a very surreal and absorbing experience, making you feel as though you were part of the wooden horse's Toyland.

You can really see the fusion between the Swedish heritage of the horse and the modern designs. A blend of old meets new.  We loved the collection and think Niro Wang is a definitely a designer to watch!

Inspiration: Alicia Roddy

After accidentally coming across Alicia on Instagram's "discover people" page, we quickly  fell in love with her outfits, which consisted of culottes and white over-sized shirts, she just has a way of making it work.
